  • In charge of Dataexplorers Technology and DXL’s Edinburgh office ($20M+ turnover), responsible for the budgetary ($5M+), strategic, functional, infrastructure, IT Dept (18 employee’s) management.
  • Responsible for managing full scale change of DXL’s hardware infrastructure, migrating to a 3rd party hardware hosting provider moving from IIS5-6 and Windows server 2k-2k3, migrating the 300Gb Sqlserver 2k Db to a new expandable architecture.

  • Deputise for IT Director when he is on holiday or out of office, over a department of 22.
  • Acted as caretaker manager for development department of 22 people, for 4 months, before IT director recruited, managing all project resource allocation, project initiations, client contact requiring IT input and recruitment of resources. Wide ranging use of MSProject, Prince2 methodologies, RISK and Management cost benefit analysis.
  • Represented company's development and IT areas in weekly executive meetings and strategy meetings.
  • Project managed J2EE, Java servlet, Javascript, XML, XSLT, Perl, ASP, Sql, HTML development projects on Tomcat/Apache/Linux/NT/VMS environments.

  • Led the team of four that built and then upgraded the demonstration system for Sherwood’s premium multi-million pound tools application inside a three month timescale, using NT, Unix platforms and SQL 7 & 8, Developer 2000 4.5 & 5.
  • Trainee systems analyst role using SSADM and in house techniques, working on demonstration applications.
  • As part of the Demonstration system project specification, I was also graded as one of the Consultants qualified to carry out installations of the company software and demonstrations of the tools to potential new multi-million pound clients and upgrading existing clients, which took me to several European destinations.
  • Provided consultancy services and aided in application development of a RDBMS involving system testing, bug fixing, general build and upgrades, all based upon Unix platforms with SQL and Developer 2000 and a web front end with object orientated tools for the UK’s largest Insurance companies and Poland’s largest Life and General Pensions Insurance company.
